It consists of a Hematology/Medical Oncology Department as well as a Radiation Oncology Department. Although activities are concentrated on providing individualized treatment, the Cancer Center also provides leadership in developing and implementing public education programs aimed at prevention and early detection of cancer. Support services include social work, nutritional support, pharmacy, rehabilitation, care management, hospice, home health care, inpatient services, and cancer registry as well as certain agencies within the community.
The Hematology/Medical Oncology Department is used for patient visits and medical procedures that include bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, lumbar puncture, paracentesis, thoracentesis, and tissue biopsy/fine-needle aspiration. The department also administers the following: blood products; chemotherapeutic agents ranging from 0 to 8 hours in duration or by continuous infusion via an ambulatory pump; intravenous hydration; intravenous gamma globulin; biotherapy; antibiotic and parenteral iron therapy.
The Radiation Oncology Department is used for patient visits and the administration of radiation treatment through teletherapy and low dose brachytherapy. The department is equipped with: two linear accelerators; a treatment simulator; a 3-D Phillips Pinnacle3 treatment planning system; a MMS treatment planning computer for prostate seed implants; Zmed Sonarray ultrasound localization device; a custom block cutter; radioactive cesium and after-loading devices for brachytherapy; as well as a transrectal ultrasound machine and loading devices for prostate radioactive seed implants.

We are a Medicare and Medicaid certified agency so patients who have either coverage, recieve care at a 100% rate, resulting in no bill for any comfort measures we provide. We work with private insurance carriers as well. Those patients with no coverage will also be accommadated.
A team of professionals is available to each patient to evaluate all aspects of comfort. Our goal is to insure the very best quality of life possible. We do nothing to either shorten or prolong life. We utilize volunteers to assist the patient and family and we have chaplains for spiritual support upon request.
